Release Items: General Notes

Release items are named for the time of delivery: year (yy or yyyy), month (mm)
and sequential number within the month (nn); for example, item 1601-02 is
is the second item released in January 2016.

The yymm-nn.zip file that accompanies each release item delivers the following
files, as needed, for upgrading FINANCIER (TM):

syyymmnn.txt - A sequential file, created with the
SYSOBJH utility, containing source code for
                     replacement module(s)
                     (RECFM=FB, LRECL=96, BLKSIZE=6240)

dcyymmnn.txt - A text file containing Dictionary data for input
to the Dictionary Import program (WCDICIMB)
                     (RECFM=FB, LRECL=975, BLKSIZE=9750)

  pell_yyyy.csv - A comma-separated file containing an aid year's Pell tables
for input to the Pell Import program (WFPELIMB)

ugyymmnn.pdf - A PDF file containing replacement pages for the
                     FINANCIER(TM) User Guide

modulename.htm - If modifications to pre-existing code are delivered,
differences are reported in a modulename.htm file.
The differences are also posted side by side in the release
notes on the WolffPack web site.

yymm-nn folder - A folder containing the old and new versions of updated programs

When feasible, WolffPack provides two alternative methods for updating FINANCIER:
  - You can enter changes manually using the source code differences found in the
zip folder or displayed when you click on the item number in the
    Product Release table.

  - You can load replacement module(s) in the syyymmnn.txt file using
    the SYSOBJH utility.

For large updates, only replacement modules are posted.

If the zip file includes a Dictionary extract file, you must run the program
WCDICIMB to apply Dictionary changes. If it includes a Pell table input file, use the
program WFPELIMB to load the tables. If it includes User Guide updates, you should
print, duplicate (2-sided) and insert the replacement pages.

If you replace any modules, be sure to retain customized code as appropriate.
