Release Notes: Item 1304-01
This release improves the editing of verification input.
- For students in verification groups V1 and V5, the filing status determines whether the AGI, federal income tax paid and untaxed income, or the income from work fields, are relevant and need to be verified. Previously, all of these fields allowed input if the student was in group V1 or V5.
With this release, FINANCIER looks at the student's and/or parent's filing status and protects the irrelevant fields against input. If the student or parent is a tax filer, the student and spouse and/or father and mother income fields are protected, and the AGI, federal income tax paid and untaxed income fields are updatable. (The untaxed income must still be updated by expanding the Student or Parent heading and entering the appropriate component amounts). If the student or parent is not a filer, the corresponding AGI, federal income tax paid and untaxed income fields are protected, and the income from work fields are updatable.
- For students required to verify SNAP (groups V1, V2, V4 and V5), if there was a federal value for SNAP, but the verification SNAP field was blank, verification was being allowed to proceed; the blank would overlay the federal value and create an inappropriate federal correction.
After modification, a SNAP verification entry is required. If the SNAP verification field is blank and a calculation is attempted, a diagnostic message is displayed: "Student [or parent] SNAP reported on Federal data, none in Verification data."
- This item is required at all client sites.
